How to Book an Appointment, Register, and View Materials

Appointments

Appointments are required for the use of the archives, manuscript, and rare book collections. Researchers must request an appointment at least five (5) days in advance of the intended research time through the online booking system. Open stacks materials do not require an appointment.

Registration

A link to a researcher registration form will be sent through email after the appointment has been confirmed, to be completed 2 weekdays before scheduled appointments. Researchers are required to complete this form once per academic calendar year.

Request Materials

Researchers must know which specific materials from a collection that they want to view during their appointments (i.e., call numbers for publications and box numbers for archival collections). We request this information through our call slip form, which will be sent by email after a research appointment has been confirmed. Please see the research guide for more detailed instructions on filling out the call slip form.

We require call slip submissions at least 2 weekdays in advance of the appointment in order to allow staff sufficient time to retrieve items, and reserve the right to cancel appointments if call slips are not received. Special Collections staff is happy to assist with identifying sources, and researchers can schedule a consultation by reaching out to spcoll@appstate.edu
