Visiting Special Collections

We welcome all visitors from both the campus community and the general public. The Special Collections Research Center is home to the W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection, the Stock Car Racing Collection, Rare Books & Manuscripts, and University Archives. Because of the rare and unique nature of these collections, materials are kept in closed stacks and accessed by appointment in our Reading Room.

Special Collections also houses a thoughtfully curated research collection of secondary source material and audiovisual items pertaining to both the Appalachian region and stock car racing, which are publicly available for browsing and self-guided study, and in many cases, can be checked out by library card holders.
